Part 2 – Cue card

Q: Describe something healthy that you enjoy doing. You should say:
– What you do
– Where you do it
– Who you do it with
– Why you enjoy doing it

I’ve been playing badminton for the last few years. This is something that I really enjoy. Initially, I was not a very good player – but over the years, I have been able to improve my skills tremendously. Every evening, I play badminton with my colleagues after work. There are usually 6-8 people who do it regularly, and if someone doesn’t reach the court in time, he or she is not qualified to play the first game. After one round is over, the losers will have to give a chance to the players who wait outside.
I think playing badminton has contributed significantly to my fitness. Over the last 2 years, I have been able to lose about 8 kilograms – without doing any other exercises or following any strict diet. I can eat anything I like, and still burn calories by just engaging in this activity.
Thanks to playing badminton, my stamina has improved quite a lot. My muscles are much stronger compared to how they were previously, and I can work for longer hours without having to rely on coffee or regular breaks. As a result, I really enjoy this activity and have no intention of giving up on it soon.

Part 3

1. In your opinion, what is the most important factor for good health?
This may vary from person to person, but in my opinion, maintaining a balanced diet and regular exercise are important factors for good overall health. These actions can have positive effects on physical fitness as well as mental well-being. However, it is also important to consider other factors such as getting enough sleep and managing stress in order to achieve good health.

2. How do you think technology affects people’s physical exercise habits?
Technology has made our lives more convenient, but it can also lead to sedentary lifestyles and less physical activity. For example, with the widespread use of electronic devices such as smartphones and laptops, people may spend more time sitting at a desk or on their couch instead of being physically active. On the other hand, technology can also be used in positive ways – such as providing access to fitness tracking apps or online workout videos. It ultimately depends on how individuals choose to use technology in their daily lives.

3. How do you think schools should encourage students to have healthy habits?
Schools could implement educational programs about nutrition and exercise for students. They could also provide healthier food options in cafeterias and encourage physical activity through sports or other forms of exercise. In addition, promoting a positive body image and discouraging unhealthy habits such as smoking or excessive alcohol consumption can also be important aspects of promoting healthy habits in students.

4. Do you think people pay enough attention to their health nowadays?
In my opinion, people today are becoming more aware of the importance of maintaining good health. However, I do believe that many people still overlook certain aspects of their health, particularly their mental well-being. This is where the concept of “mindful moments” comes in.
Mindful moments refer to taking the time to be present in the moment and focus on one’s thoughts and feelings. This could be as simple as taking a few minutes each day to meditate, go for a walk, or practice deep breathing exercises. By doing so, we can improve our mental health and be more in tune with our thoughts and feelings.
